Electrical Installation Condition Report (formally Periodic Inspection Report (also known as an Electrical Safety Certificate))
This report is sometimes referred to as an electrical MOT. Just as a car, your home's electrical installation needs to be inspected and tested to determine if it is safe for continued use without risk to a building (as a result of fire) or life (resulting from electric shock).
As you would except from an electrical inspector, Digital Haven take an unbiased approach to inspecting your home or business premises. This is because you are under no obligation to commission us to carryout any remedial work. Therefore you can be assured that our report will be honest and with safety at the heart of it.
For peace of mind we would recommend a report periodically if you have a previous report available and as soon as possible if no report is available for reference. You may also be requested to commission a report by an estate agent, insurer or your electricity supplier.
A few examples of maximum recommended period between inspections according to British Standards (BS 7671:2008)
Domestic Change of occupancy or every 10 years from a previous certificate
Commercial, educational, hospital, residential, office, shop, laboratories, church* Change of occupancy or every 5 years from a previous certificate
* All non-domestic premises are also required to have more frequent routine checks
Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)
From January 2012 Digital Haven will be preparing reports inline with the newest amendment to the Electrical Regulations (BS 7671:2008 (2011)). The EICR supersedes the Periodic Inspection Report.
